Women empowerment at the village level has been one of the direct impacts of JBGVS integrated rural development activities. A very prominent success story has been the selection of Ms Sangeeta Nanekar as a member of the nine-member Group Gram Panchayat of Karanjgaon village in Nane Maval area of Maval taluka, Pune district. She was selected without opposition for a period of five years starting from 2014-15.
Her dramatic journey from a SSC pass homemaker to a talented rural woman actively engaged in social initiatives, can be attributed to the relentless grass root work of JBGVS. It all started with Ms Nanekar attending the tailoring classes conducted by JBGVS. From that point she slowly turned into an extrovert person and now herself conducts tailoring classes of JBGVS in Karanjgaon. In December 2014 she was elected on the School Management Committee in Karanjgaon followed by her election as the Chairman of the same for a period of two years.
The achievements of Ms Nanekar prompted several others in the surrounding villages to attempt election to the School Management Committees. Today several of them have managed to achieve the same, viz. Ms Sarita Gaikwad - Vice-chairman, Kolwadi; Ms Jaya Kamble - Vice-chairman, Kambre; Ms Jayashree Rade, Mormarewadi; Ms Anjali Jadhav, Govitri; Ms Janabai Bhagat, Pale; Ms Ashwini Mandlik, Nane and Ms Kavita Bingude, Nane (all members of School Management Committees).
JBGVS च्या एकात्मिक ग्राम विकास उपक्रमांचा एक दृश्य परिणाम आहे स्त्री सबलीकरण. श्रीमती संगीता नाणेकर यांची करंजगावच्या नऊ सदस्सीय ग्रुप ग्राम पंचायतीवर बिनविरोध निवड (नाणे मावळ विभाग, तालुका मावळ, जिल्हा पुणे) ही एक यशोगाथाच आहे. त्यांची २०१४-१५ मध्ये पाच वर्षांसाठी निवड झाली.
दहावी उत्तीर्ण गृहिणी पासून एक निपुण व सामाजिक कार्यात सक्रीय अशा ग्रामीण स्त्री पर्यंत त्यांच्या प्रवासाचे श्रेय JBGVS च्या गाव पातळीवरील कार्याला द्यावे लागेल. संस्थेने चालवलेल्या शिवणकला वर्गात त्यांनी प्रशिक्षण घेतले व मग मागे वळून पहिलेच नाही. आता त्या स्वतः संस्थेच्या सदर वर्गात इतर महिलांना प्रशिक्षण देतात. शिवाय डिसेंबर २०१४ मध्ये शाळा व्यवस्थापन समितीवर त्यांची सदस्य म्हणून निवड झाली. पाठोपाठ दोन वर्षांसाठी सदर समितीच्या त्या अध्यक्षाही झाल्या.
त्यांचे कर्तृत्व पाहून आसपासच्या अनेक गावांतील महिलांनाही अशा प्रकारे शाळा व्यवस्थापन समित्यांवर निवडून येण्याची इच्छा निर्माण झाली. आज खालील महिला अशाप्रकारे विविध गावांत समितीवर निवडून आलेल्या आहेत: श्रीमती सरिता गायकवाड, उपाध्यक्षा, कोळवाडी; श्रीमती जया कांबळे, उपाध्यक्षा, काम्ब्रे; श्रीमती जयश्री रडे, मोरमारेवाडी; श्रीमती अंजली जाधव, गोवित्री; श्रीमती जनाबाई भगत, पाळे; श्रीमती अश्विनी मंडलिक, नाणे व श्रीमती कविता बिनगुडे, नाणे.
